THE YOUNG CREATIVES FINAL SHOWCASE

On the 29th April 2014 from 7 – 10pm, Nottinghamshire YMCA will celebrate the end of their Young Creatives project with live performances at the Nottingham Contemporary.

Appearing at the gig will be up‐and‐coming Nottingham artist, Josh Wheatley, who won the YMCA Digital Battle of the Bands competition at the Maze in December.

Runners up of the competition: Kezz and A‐Dee, as well as other artists from the Young Creatives programme will also be showcasing their original music. Look out for Nina Smith and the Big Band too.

There will also be performances from Nottingham Contemporary’s youth group, Get Involved 17, Orchestrate and previous winners of the Nusic Future Sound of Nottingham: The Gorgeous Chans (2013).

This will be an amazing opportunity to hear some of Nottingham’s best musical talent, after all, Jake Bugg started his music career with the YMCA Youth music team!

Also on the night, there will be an exclusive preview of two film trailers for Nottinghamshire YMCA’s FilmCreative project funded by the First Light Movies Outreach Grants Programme. These trailers will later be shown at Broadway Cinema.

In addition to live music, there will also be other activities run by partners of NGY myplace including competitions run by Nottingham Forest in the Community with prizes such as a football signed by all the players.

The event is free and open to everyone.

YMCA Digital present their annual showcase event The Nottingham Contemporary. Open to all and free to attend the night will feature a range of music, film and other arts based activities. –•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–• Line-up: The Gorgeous Chans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUxOja_roi4) -This Nottingham based 6 piece band have won the Nusic's Future Sound of Nottingham award and have graced the main stage at the Nottingham Splendour Festival. These guys are definitely ones to watch!!! Josh Wheatley (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-mwiVrB1nE) -Another talented young singer-songwriter from Nottingham, this 18 year old is quickly making a name for himself with his gentle, acoustic folk songs. Josh Wheatley won this slot due to him winning at the Young Creatives Battle of the Bands held at The Maze. Natasha -She was the runner-up of our Young Creatives Maze Battle of the Bands competition. Natasha is a solo acoustic singer-songwriter who performs a sweet blend of soulful music. A Dee -He was also a runner-up of the Young Creatives Maze Battle of the Bands competition. A Dee is a young, talented, up and coming MC whose flow and content is definitely one to watch within the Nottingham rap/hip hop scene. Kezz -He was another runner-up of the Young Creatives Maze Battle of the Bands competition. In the same light as A Dee, Kezz is a young, up and coming Nottingham MC who works closely with A Dee and another Young Creatives MC called Ddot. Nina Smith & The Big Band (http://vimeo.com/24687939) -This highly acclaimed Nottingham based singer-songwriter, who has collaborated with the likes of Scorsayzee and Junglewire and hit the Splendour Courtyard stage in 2012, has collaborated with The Young Creatives - YMCA Digital Big Band. For the past two months Nina Smith, alongside Jonathan Jd Daniel &Trekkah Benjamin from The Afterdark Movement have been jamming with young people from The Young Creatives. A must see collaborative performance !!! Orchestrate A collaboration between Orchestral students from The Nottingham Music Services and the Young Creatives producers, singers and musicians. Alongside Trekkah Benjamin, Jonathan Daniels, Sally-Anne Marler &JayLay Dashing Laidley, The group have been working on five different pieces that focus on different forms of composition. –•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–•–• Also other activities include; • First Light trailers for 2 brand new films - 'Catfishing' and 'Colour Red'. • WIN a signed football from all of the Nottingham Forest football team. • Arts activity - graffiti wall (add your own stuff!) • Fully licensed bar including mocktails for under 18's. • Promotion stalls and activities. ...and much, much more!!!
