The Young Promoters

Empowering the community through Music

Young Promoters is a project that develops sustainable music opportunities for rurally isolated young people where there is an identified lack of delivery in the arts (particularly music). Although the programme will be founded in developing and strengthening the musical ability and confidence of young people, the ‘promoter’ aspect of the project is a great way of getting the community involved in strengthening musical performance and delivery in their own neighbourhood.

The projects started with a 5 week training program that targeted local musicians and technicians within the area that showed an interest at delivering music sessions as a music leader. The training sessions focused on a number of different aspect of music delivery from working on ways to engage groups, planning sessions and also catering for a mixed range of learning styles using different teaching methods. The trainees then progress and are then heavily involved in the delivery of a 16 week music program working alongside the YMCA Digital team.
